Marilyn Annin

My paintings incorporate bold lines, strong colors, and whimsical brushwork. I approach each painting with great enthusiasm, so the greatest reward is when my audience recognizes, shares and appreciates that enthusiasm.  

These pieces are hand hooked rugs that are created by dyeing, cutting and hooking little loops of wool on a linen foundation. Themes are similar to my paintings in style and palette, but the wool adds wonderful texture and a unique way to blend color.  

A series of rigid  garments that act as a satiric metaphor for  attitudes and custom of our culture. The sculptures are made from welded steel armatures, fabric, and common discarded materials such as safety pins, buttons, can tabs, and broken jewelry.
